A delegation from the National Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (IN2P3), France, headed by Prof. Reynald PAIN, Director of IN2P3, visited IHEP on October 14, 2017. Prof. Wang Yifang, Director of IHEP, along with Prof. Chen Hesheng, Manager of CSNS, Cao Jun, Assistant Director of IHEP, and other IHEP staff, hosted the delegation.
Prof. Wang welcomed the IN2P3 delegation, and gave an introduction to IHEP’s research programme and future plans. Prof. Cao Jun gave a report on status of the JUNO experiment. Prof. Reynald PAIN then expressed thanks for the warm welcome. Prof. Jacques Maritino gave a talk on French contributions to JUNO, and Prof. Eric Kajfasz introduced the France-China Particle Physics Laboratory (FCPPL) and plans for the future. Mr. Antoine Mynard introduced recent collaboration between France’s National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and Chinese institutions, and expressed his hope that IHEP would participate in future. In-depth discussion was then held on JUNO, CEPC and other programs.
After the meeting, the French guests visited the BEPC, the BSRF experiment hall, the Accelerator Driven Sub-critical System (ADS), the Liquid Scintillator (LS) Lab, the Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Lab, and the Photomultiplier Tube (PMT) Lab.
