The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory Collaboration officially released its logo on January 14th, 2015.

The overall design of the logo is of a spherical detector, with the Greek letters ν and θ. The detector image represents the 20,000-ton central detector of the experiment. The Greek letter ν stands for neutrino, while the Greek letter θ indicates that the experiment aims to measure θ12. The shape and color of the logo is in accordance with the logo of the Daya Bay Neutrino Experiment, which is red and blue. The logo was unveiled during the JUNO International Collaboration Meeting held at Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou from January 10th to 14th.


During this meeting, WANG Yifang, the spokesperson of the Collaboration, introduced the latest progress and construction plans for the experiment. He encouraged the scientists and technicians to focus on the civil construction so that the JUNO team could be the first to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy. Detailed reports on detector design, pre-research results and future plans were discussed in the meeting.


Seven new members were approved to join the Collaboration during the meeting:  Yerevan Physics Institute (Armenia), Chongqing University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Xiamen University, Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), University of Maryland (USA) and the Institute for Nuclear Research of Russian Academy of Sciences.


Max-Planck-Institut für Physik (Germany), Jyvaskyla University (Finland), Institute of High Energy Physics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Austria), Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (Chile) were invited to attend the meeting as observers.


The next Collaboration meeting will be held at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in July, 2015.
